John McCoy Merriman John McCoy Merriman was born in Wayne County Ohio in 1819 to parents Elijah Merriman and Mary N. McCoy Merriman. In 1847 John married Harriett Gaddis. They were parents to the following ten children: Rollin G Merriman 1848 – 1928 who married Hannah Marie Moore 1850 – 1906 Abner Willard Merriman 1850 – 1923 who married Nancy Nyswonger 1853 – 1924 Martha J Merriman 1859 – 1880 who married Albert A Barnhart Mary Etta MERRIMAN 1853 – bef 1903 who married Nicholas Stair 1851 – Judson J Merriman 1856 – 1924 who married first Charlotte Good 1854 – 1899 and second Margaret Higgins 1859 – 1949 Dorcas Merriman 1856 – bef 1903 Thomas Walker Merriman 1857 – 1926 who married Minnie B Armstrong 1862 – Homer Eddie Merriman 1862 – Married to unknown Hattie Merriman 1866 – married E.S.Doyle Quimby Merriman 1868 – bef 1903 ============================================== Obituary of John M. Merriman John M. Merriman of Lind died at that place last Wednesday at the ripe old age of 84 years. Deceased was an Ohioan and born in Wayne county, Mar. 14, 1819. His wife Harriet Gladdis to whom he was married 56 years ago survives him. They were the parents of ten children: R. G., J. J., T.W., & H. E. Merriman, of Lind; A. W. Merriman, of Blufton, Ind., Mrs. E. S. Doyle of Port Angles, Wash., and Mary Etta, Dorcas and Quimby Merriman, deceased. John M. Merriman has two brothers and two sisters living: D.E. Merriman and Thomas Merriman of South Whitley,Ind., Eliza Moncey of Liberty Center,Ind.,and Huldah Wyre of South Whitley,Ind. He leaves two orphaned grandchildren: Chas Barnhart of Cleveland,Ohio and Lela Stair of Lind who has made her home with her grandparents nearly all her life. Mr. Merriman had lived in this county since 1887. Rev. Alexander Rhine of this city officiated in the funeral services. |
